AUSTELL, GA — The reward for information leading to the arrest of the gunmen who shot a father of three to death last week at a Cobb County apartment complex has reached $12,000, Patch has learned. On July 19, Roland Milton III, 29, of Marietta was gunned down execution-style by four people, authorities said Thursday.
The foursome, all wearing ski masks, white gloves and dark clothing, fatally shot Milton outside the Crescent Square Apartments in the 2000 block of Austell Road.
Officers responding to the call arrived to find Milton deceased at the scene, Cobb police spokeswoman Alicia Chilton told Patch in an email. The call was received at 11:34 a.m. "regarding a person shot outside an apartment complex," she said.
Crime Stoppers offered a $2,000 reward for information in the case and now Milton’s family is adding $10,000, according to WSB-TV.
As Patch previously reported, authorities were quickly on the scene of the brazen shooting, which has unnerved many residents of the apartments. About 100 residents came outside after the shooting, local media reported.
"There is one male deceased on the scene. Still a very active scene. I am on scene, and detectives are actively working the investigation," Chilton said shortly after the brazen shooting occurred.
Neighbors congregated after the shooting, concerned about the area’s safety, according to local news media. Witnesses told them that the shooting was preceded by an argument of some kind.
"I believe they came with the intention to rob," Milton’s brother, Eusebio Phelps, told WSB. "They didn’t expect him to respond in the manner that he did and they panicked and killed him."
